If you are hooked on Wordle-like games like I am, this tool may be for you.
It's designed to be a companion to your favorite game, such as the New York Times version or my
own Wordell! version.
It contains 4, 5, and 6 letter word sets, both common usage and hard as well as my best approximation of the New York Times Wordle word set.
You use Word Buddy as you play your game. When you get stuck, enter each guess you made and indicate which letters were present, present and in the right position, and not found.
Submit the annotated guess to see a list of words that the guess. Enter each guess you have made so far in the order you entered them in your game to see the possible words being reduced.
Even though your first guess or two will often produce a large list, you can use it to select words that cover different vowels or consonants to narrow your next guess.
NOTE 1: The various 4-, 5-, and 6-word lists were crafted specifically for my Wordell! version. If you're playing a different version, the word list won't match but may still be useful.
NOTE 2: As far as I can tell, the New York Times does not publish its word list. The list contained in the tool is gleaned from internet searches and my use of the game. As such, consider the list as a best guess.
Finally, Word Buddy is still a work in progress. I will update this page when it is available in the Google and Apple stores.
